I know you all will be going to meet the farmers, but I’ll be going because entrance is free, you get to try new Chipotle recipes, the “Artisans’” and “Brewers’” tents have great local vendors, proceeds from food sales benefit familyfarmed.org and I’m going to meet Michael Chiarello and we’re going to become best friends (obvi).
What’s the catch? I’m assuming Chipotle wants to (further) associate themselves with the sustainable food movement and (continue to) separate themselves from the fast food category. I cite exhibit A, the “Chipotle Cultivate Experience” that offers a free burrito coupon in exchange for visiting tents about how animals are raised, what sustainable farming entails and the connection between sustainable food and sustainable clothes.
I 100,000,000% (that would be one hundred million percent, Alex) support this and think everything about this event is great. Seeing a major company like Chipotle embrace social responsibility as it relates to their business is refreshing, admirable and I hope others will follow suit.
Let me know in the comments if you end up going and what you thought of it. I’ll try to post some pics on twitter (@ktlorenz) too!
